CAS Week 13: Creativity (Learning Outcome 2)

(C) Decorating with Stickers  Recently, I've been starting to decorate some of the stuff on my desk with some stickers that I bought on Amazon. I've been trying out different colors, and I mostly decorate stuff like plastic boxes, and other stuff that sits on my desk at the moment. In addition to this, I feel like I've built up a little collection of sticker sheets, as I want to try out new kinds of stickers and different kinds of color themes! Sadly, I've been running out of a lot of the stickers that I bought last year, since I decorated a lot during Winter Break. Specifically, I ran out of colors like blue, pink and orange, since I decided to try out pink and blue stickers my journal spread from last month. Also, I mainly ran out of orange stickers due to the fact that I started to try out new colors, like orange and yellow, so I wouldn't end up using up all of my pink stickers at once. Doing these types of crafts have definitely been a good way to pass my time w...

CAS Week 12: Activity (Learning Outcome 4)

(A) Visiting the Beach  During the summer, my family and I drove from Connecticut to the beach in Rhode Island. We started out by driving to Rhode Island after lunch, and we drove around to find a beach that had some parking where we could get out and just walk towards the beach. Afterwards, we parked, and we went to go have fun at the beach! We spent awhile just going around the beach, spending time in the water and walking around to take in the view before we left. This was my first time visiting a beach in Rhode Island before, so it was definitely a fun experience. Also, I hope that I can visit the beach again soon, as it was definitely different than the beaches here in Houston. We also visited the same beach the day before, but it was too cold to swim in the water, so we made sure to come back the next day when it was sunnier and warmer! This was definitely a super fun experience, and I was able to be able to persevere through all of the challenges that we went through during ...

CAS Week 11: Service (Learning Outcome 4 and Learning Outcome 5)

(S) Designing the Newsletter for The Bayou Village School  This is a continuation of my working on the newsletter for Bayou Village. This week wasn't different from the other weeks that I've been working on the newsletter, however, this week was the monthly update on each of the classes! In this update, I get sent information that each of the classes teacher's sent to the director, as well as pictures of each of the classes. Then, I get sent all of this information to put in the newsletter. Usually, I give each class a page with as many pictures as I can fit, and I try to put the rest of the information in the same order that it was sent to me in. This week wasn't especially hard to format, or design, and it was definitely nice to start working on the newsletter again! I really enjoy putting everything together on the newsletter, and it's definitely been a nice way to continue learning more about designing! I also think that this experience has definitely helped me ...

CAS Week 10: Activity (Learning Outcome 4 and Learning Outcome 5)

  (A) Traveling to Connecticut During the summer, my family and I went to go stay with my Dad in Connecticut, since he had moved up there for his job in the beginning of May. We left at around the end of June, and to get to Connecticut, we had to fly from Houston to Chicago to Connecticut, which turned out to take more than a day. This is due to the fact that Chicago had bad weather the day we were going to leave from Houston, so our flight kept on getting delayed. This worried me a lot, since we had a connecting flight from Chicago, so I was worried that we weren't going to make it. Sadly, we didn't make it on our connecting flight to Connecticut, so we had to stay in Chicago for the next two days after making it there. Surprisingly, we weren't the only people that were stuck in Chicago at the time, as a lot of flights from Chicago had been canceled, so we were one of many families that were stuck there at the time. However, we were able to have a nice 2 day stay in Chicag...

CAS Week 9: Creativity (Learning Outcome 2 and Learning Outcome 4)

(C) Selling some of my Music merchandise Starting at the beginning of this year, I started to sell some of the K-pop Albums and merchandise that I thought could go to a better home. This wasn't my first time trying to sell some of my merchandise, as I did the same type of business during the beginning of the pandemic, when we were all at home. This time. however, I tried starting up my business on a different app, as I thought that it might be easier for me to ship out all of the merchandise through their instead. It was definitely a better go this time, as I was able to sell a lot of the K-pop merchandise that had been in my room for awhile.  This was definitely a good experience for me, as I was able to learn time management skills, as well as money saving skills throughout the ups and downs of selling my merchandise. It's definitely something that I want to be able to continue for awhile, as I still have some K-pop merchandise to send out this week, and I'm hoping that I...

CAS Week 8: Activity (Learning Outcome 2 and Learning Outcome 7)

(A) Getting my Learner's Permit Getting my Learner's Permit is something that I've been working on getting for awhile now, and I thought it would be a good idea to document the process I went through in this blog! First, I started by signing up for the course I needed to complete to get my certificate for my Learner's Permit. I did the course over my winter break this year, and it took around 6 hours to complete, including the final test. It was definitely a little bit of a process, because I had to go through this course, and another different course before I could get my Learner's Permit certificate. Also, this experience definitely taught me a lot of self-motivation and time management, with finishing my courses on target and making sure to get finish up each of the lessons as soon as possible. This experience is definitely teaching me a lot of self-discipline, as well as showing me the consequences of not going through the process of learning how to drive sooner...

CAS Week 7: Service (Learning Outcome 5 and Learning Outcome 6)

(S) Working with Stand With Kashmir  During 2019, around July to September, I worked with Stand With Kashmir to create flyers for their booth at ISNA. Also, I helped to hand out flyers in August during the ISNA Convention. I definitely enjoyed working with Stand With Kashmir to make the flyers, as well as helping them by working at their booth, as the Kashmir Conflict is something that I've been passionate about bringing awareness too for many years now. I was especially glad to be able to put work into shedding light on the Kashmir Conflict, while also bringing in one of my interests, which is graphic design. Also, it made me feel glad to be able to help out with the organization in some way, and I hope to be able to work with them again as soon as possible! I feel like this experience has been able to help my learn more about the global issues that surround Kashmir, as well as help me learn how to work with and meet new people!
