CAS Week 18: Service (Learning Outcome 3 and Learning Outcome 5)

(S) Designing the Newsletter for The Bayou Village School  This week's newsletter took a little bit less time than last weeks, the school wanted to give an update on their COVID-19 Mask Policy and Protocols through this week's newsletter. Due to this, there was only one piece of information that I had to include in the newsletter, making the process take much less time than the previous week's. I made sure to make the announcement for the school's protocols to be organized correctly so that the parents of the school would be sure to know the update that this newsletter was providing.  Compared to the week before last week's newsletter, this week's newsletter was definitely one that took the least amount of time, and it allowed for me to complete the designing and incorporation of information as quickly as possible. I was able to continue and persevere through this volunteer experience, while also being able to continue to work collaboratively with The Bayou Vill

  (A) Going to the DMV to get my Learner's Permit: Part 2  This is a continuation of my mom and I's adventures to the DMV to get my Learner's Permit! After school last Tuesday, we drove to the DMV and went through the process to get my Learner's Permit. It definitely didn't take as long as I expected, however we went through a little bit of trouble since we had to find another form to confirm something so that I would be able to get my Learner's Permit. After that, everything was pretty smooth. We were able to get through all of the different forms that we had to provide with no trouble, and the form that gave us issues last time wasn't even needed for this visit to the DMV. This definitely settled our worries, since there were a lot of forms that had to be organized and filled out prior to us going to our appointment at the DMV. I can only give the credit to my parents, who helped me make sure everything was right, and in order, even when we had a scare tha

(A) Going to the DMV to get my Learner's Permit: Part 1  This week, I went to the DMV to get my Learner's Permit! It's definitely a longer process than I thought it was going to be, since I've never been to the DMV before. One of the longer parts of the entire process was definitely going to the DMV, as the closest DMV to my house and the school is almost 6 miles away. It's definitely been hard to not have a DMV building closer to our house, since this is the second time that we've had to drive all the way over to the DMV, and back. My mom and I made sure to have all of the right forms this time, which was an easier process to get through, so I hope that this appointment can be more successful than the last time! This experience was definitely super tedious, and through going this I was able to see the ethics of the choice that I made to get my driver's license in my senior year. Learning Outcome 7

(C) Decorating with Stickers for my Friend (2 hours) As a continuation of one of my prior blogs, I thought to talk more about my sticker decorating hobby, as I've been starting to decorate more and more these days!  Specifically, yesterday, I started working on decorating something with stickers for one of my friends, to give to them when I meet them during Spring Break! I mainly used pink and purple stickers, since I thought that the two colors would look good together. I also used one of my newer purple stickers that I haven't been able to use for anything yet, which was definitely exciting, since I don't have a lot of stickers that are just purple colored. Most of the purple stickers I have are either purple-pink, or more purple-blue. This was definitely a nice way for me to relax after school as well, and I can't wait to give this gift to my friend once I see them soon! Continuing to decorate with stickers has allowed for me to learn new skills and new styles that h

(S) Designing the Newsletter for The Bayou Village School  For this week, I continued to work on this week's newsletter! I mainly worked on it, and finished it during Friday evening after I got home.  This week was a little bit more of a serious newsletter, with a lot of information and updates from the school that needed to included in many different pages of the newsletter. There was also a technical difficulty with the pictures that I got sent to include in this newsletter, so I sadly wasn't able to include any pictures in this week's newsletter. This week's newsletter was definitely longer than average, as I had to put all of the information, letters and updates that needed to be sent out to the school community this week.  I had a busy day after school on Friday, so this was definitely a little bit of a harder newsletter to get in on time, since I wasn't able to fully work on the newsletter until I got home that evening. Once again, this experience has been abl

(C) Decorating with Stickers  Recently, I've been starting to decorate some of the stuff on my desk with some stickers that I bought on Amazon. I've been trying out different colors, and I mostly decorate stuff like plastic boxes, and other stuff that sits on my desk at the moment. In addition to this, I feel like I've built up a little collection of sticker sheets, as I want to try out new kinds of stickers and different kinds of color themes! Sadly, I've been running out of a lot of the stickers that I bought last year, since I decorated a lot during Winter Break. Specifically, I ran out of colors like blue, pink and orange, since I decided to try out pink and blue stickers my journal spread from last month. Also, I mainly ran out of orange stickers due to the fact that I started to try out new colors, like orange and yellow, so I wouldn't end up using up all of my pink stickers at once. Doing these types of crafts have definitely been a good way to pass my time w

(A) Visiting the Beach  During the summer, my family and I drove from Connecticut to the beach in Rhode Island. We started out by driving to Rhode Island after lunch, and we drove around to find a beach that had some parking where we could get out and just walk towards the beach. Afterwards, we parked, and we went to go have fun at the beach! We spent awhile just going around the beach, spending time in the water and walking around to take in the view before we left. This was my first time visiting a beach in Rhode Island before, so it was definitely a fun experience. Also, I hope that I can visit the beach again soon, as it was definitely different than the beaches here in Houston. We also visited the same beach the day before, but it was too cold to swim in the water, so we made sure to come back the next day when it was sunnier and warmer! This was definitely a super fun experience, and I was able to be able to persevere through all of the challenges that we went through during our
